The efficiency of a photovoltaic power generation system very much depends on the amount and direction of sunlight.
Tracking systems have been developed to enhance the efficiency of photovoltaic generation systems. The efficiency varies according to latitude. Tracking systems, however, can increase the amount of power generation by 40~50%.
Tracking systems are commonly classified into 2 types. One is a sensitized system that controls a photovoltaic module to change its direction so that it can always be right-angled to sunlight, since photovoltaic modules generate power most efficiently when positioned right-angled to the sun.
The other is a hydraulic system that a module automatically moves along the direction of the sun without any power supplied.
